That's My Job cd coverNashville, Tennessee, April 23, 2010: Today marks the day of the long-awaited release of “That’s My Job”, the latest CD from the “Global Cowboy” himself, Brent Moyer. “That’s My Job” is a powerful record that grabs the listener and takes them on an emotional journey from start to finish of the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. As with any Moyer production, the music cuts across genres, and is filled with catchy pop tunes as well as gut-wrenching story songs that expose a certain vulnerability and melancholy that gets straight to the heart of the matter.

Brent Moyer (guitar/trumpet/producer & songwriter) was raised in the mountains of Wyoming and now lives in Nashville, Tennessee. His musical journey began at age six and has taken him around the world. Known as the Global Cowboy, he has shared the stage with many artists; from country star Willie Nelson to pop diva Donna Summer; he played guitar for country legend Lynn Anderson; was a cast member in the hit Broadway Show, “Ring of Fire”, the songs of Johnny Cash. As a solo performer and songwriter, he continues to amaze his fans with his impeccable guitar playing with styles ranging from Tex-Mex to Country, Cajun to Jazz. His songs have been recorded throughout Europe and North America; Gary Allan, Reckless Kelly, Wayne Carson, Joe Sun.

Co-writer Tim DeBolt contributes his edgy style with “Just a Stepping Stone” and “Tammy”, two solid radio-friendly rockers.

“Tear the Building Down”, written with Bob Saporiti, is a powerful and evoking ballad; right and wrong, good and bad, with lush strings and a George Harrison style slide guitar.

Glass of No Regret” and “Glass of Regret” deal with alcoholism in two different ways. Co-written with Uschi, Brent’s wife, they take on closet drinkers that are so prevalent in today’s society. They also penned “The Bubble of Hope”, an inspirational song dealing with tragedy, and the title cut, “That’s My Job”, as told only by Max, a dog on death row.

“Walk His Way” will lift your spirits; written with 2010 Norwegian Grammy winner, Tore Andersen.

“That’s the Truth” is a beautiful love song; written with Ron Davies, a true poet and wonderful writer who left us way too early in 2003.

Exploring the European sounds of Flamenco and Gypsy, “Tango”, co-written with Texas legend Richard Dobson, tells the story of passion gone badly and “Smile” was a dream that turned into a story about the cycle of life.

There is also a rousing instrumental version of Ghost Riders…always a real crowd pleaser!

Johny Cash
Johnny Cash — farm boy, leftist superstar, biblical scholar, novelist and drug addict — had a life as outsized as an American folk tale. How to capture that giant spirit without the man himself is a conundrum never quite solved by Richard Maltby Jr.’s easygoing songbook tribute, “Ring of Fire,” now at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts.
